MY LIFE IN MAPLE LEAF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

I’m Veronica, a certified English teacher with bachelor degree in English Education. I’ve been an ESL teacher for seventeen years.

I taught in my home country for five years and been teaching in China for twelve years. I’ve handled all levels from kindergarten to college and have worked at different schools and places in China such as Wuhan, Kaifeng, Zhengzhou and now in Luoyang.

The moment I’d found out about Maple Leaf International School I had hope to work at this school because I’d heard that it’s a truly certified International school and it offers wonderful privileges to ESL teachers. I was surprised one day when a friend of mine told me that MILS needed an ESL teacher ASAP so without hesitation I grabbed the golden opportunity to apply at MLIS and  fortunately I got qualified and hired.

Working at MLIS has made me realized  that in spite of my long teaching experiences I  still need  to experience more and learn more on  how to deal with challenging classes and students. It has challenged me to improve my teaching skills further and exert more effort to be more effective and proficient.

I’ve been working in Maple Leaf School for a year and I’m discovering more ways to enhance my skills as ESL teacher. I’m learning and improving more from my challenging environment, colleagues, and most especially from my students.

Yes, I’m their teacher but I also view them as my mentor because they teach me how to be a real teacher. They have shown me that to be a real teacher is not just by degree or long experience in teaching but a real teacher is the one who has the passion to mold minds, hearts, and well-being. My students here in MLIS have made me realized that a real teacher provides not just knowledge from the books but also love and care which are truly essential for the students to have a great learning experience.

My life in Maple Leaf International School has made my teaching profession more challenging but more purposeful and meaningful.
